6 stylish ways to spruce up your Easter table

From spring tablecloths and centrepieces to kitsch but cool accessories, here’s your shopping list for upping your tablescaping game this Easter. Hop to it!

1/ Choose a colourful tablecloth

Blue Garland Tablecloth (Mrs Alice, £112)

It’s the foundation for any dinner table, but it can also be a conscious design choice to elevate its overall look. Pastel blues, pinks and greens are suitably spring and are a great stepping stone to play around with other colours without clashing. Mrs Alice (the world’s first tablescaping brand, natch) nails bright pastels with this blue garland design.

Embroidered Cotton Tablecloth (Zara x Cabana, £179.99)

If you’re after something pink (right up Muddy’s street), Zara Home has a brilliant selection of tablecloths including this beautifully embroidered 100% cotton option – bags of personality and interest without feeling OTT. We’re also coveting this gingham Rebecca Udhall design with pretty ruffles, available in several spring shades.

2/ Make a statement with crockery

Lilypad Teapot (Anthropologie, £46)

Swerve the eggs and bunny motifs and choose something that still feels festive but won’t sit at the back of the cupboard gathering dust until next Easter. This quirky lilypad teapot from Anthropologie is handmade and will add a playful element to the table. Go full cottagecore with the matching cake stand, platter and teacups.

Piece Scalloped Edge Dinner Set (Rockett St George, £95)

Fancy something more muted? Strip back the colour but still make a statement with shape with this scalloped edge 12-piece dinner set from London’s homeware hotspot Rockett St George, or go for a rustic feel with Soho Home’s Emden collection dinner plate set, made in Portugal from durable stoneware with versatile earthy tones.

3/ Keep is kitsch (but still cool)

Decorative Hanging Eggs (Sophie Allport, £15)

You can’t have an Easter table without some on-theme accessories, and Muddy loves these decorative hanging eggs from Sophie Allport. The mix of colours and designs add just the right amount of sweet without feeling sickly (leave that to the chocolate).

Rattan Ribboned Rabbit With Basket (Mrs Alice, £72)

For more festive touch on the tabletop, this rattan rabbit set with cute bowtie and basket detailing from Mrs Alice is a cute and on-trend (rattan has been doing the rounds) addition to your stylish ‘scape. John Lewis’ gingham rabbit napkin rings also add a little flair without going full easter bunny overload – plus they’re at a purse-friendly price point.

4/ Choose a knock-out centrepiece

Pompidou Medium Vase (Jonathan Adler, from £165)

Minimum effort, maximum wow-factor, adding a centrepiece is the easiest update to make your table feel a bit special. Any of these Jonathan Adler Pompidou vases are on our wish-list – cool, quirky and can be left as a decorative piece with or without an accompanying bouquet.

Vaisselle Amphora Floral Vase (Anthropologie, £105)

If you want the flowers to do all the talking, Anthropologie’s hand-painted ceramic vase will complement most spring blooms without stealing the spotlight. Scandinavian brand HAY is a big hit with this hand-crafted roll neck vase, the cool swirl design works well with a minimalist tablescape.

5/ Decorate under the table

Striped cotton seat cushion (H&M, 12.99)

But paying attention to chairs is the ultimate décor cheat code (you’re welcome), and whether you’re dining alfresco or indoors, seat cushions are an easy way to add pops of colour and cool patterns to your set-up. Take this H&M stripey cushion, for example, add it to a minimalist table setting et viola, it’s instantly more elevated.

Gingham Check Cushion (John Lewis, £20)

John Lewis’ gingham check cushions in acacia (yes, we mean yellow) are positively vibrant with tones muted enough to complement just about any tableware. And for the maximalists among us, go for these velvet seat pads from Graham and Green with hand-embroidery.

Cult cool-girl brand Kitri launched its interiors collection in last year and we want everything, but especially these kitschy, retro floral napkins made with 100% ethically-sourced linen. If your table speaks for itself, opt for the understated scallop trim napkins from Matilda Goad & Co

Pure Linen Scalloped Edged Napkins (Clio & Clover, £32)

… or these baby blue ones from London’s Clio & Clover with chic brown trim – a great addition to the springy pastels of Easter décor. Zara Home and Milan-based interiors brand Cabana’s collaboration is almost as bright as Tuscany – these 100% cotton napkins feature pretty embroidery.
