It was a Muddy takeover at Chapel Down Winery as the winners of the 2025 Muddy Awards gathered to raise their glasses and celebrate being the best in Kent. We were joined by our local sponsor NFU Mutual Ashford, Tenterden and Whitfield agency.

The sun was shining, the sky was blue… and it was smiles all round for the 21 worthy winners who nailed it to win the best in their category. It was a year that saw an impressive 750,000 businesses nominated across the Muddy counties, and a yet another record number of votes from our readers. With nearly 1,000 businesses nominated in the first round in just Kent alone.

I know we say it every year, but this year’s was the most popular Muddy Awards to date reaching over 11 million people nationally in eight weeks, with half a million votes and nominations cast.

Thank you to all of you who voted and made the awards possible. It’s our biggest pleasure to meet and support brilliant local businesses and then tell you about them so you can enjoy them too!

The party was a fun affair in what must surely be one of the most beautiful settings in Kent – Chapel Down, in the village of Small Hythe, near Tenterden – early on a summer’s evening with the fizz flowing and those gorgeous views across the vineyards.

Our Winner’s Drinks took place in The Wine Sanctuary, Chapel Down’s stunning tasting room, a beautiful space with heigh ceilings and floor to ceiling glass along one side that opens onto a terrace overlooking the vines. It’s the perfect place for a summer soirée! And thanks to their generosity we sipped Chapel Downs’ delicious Bacchus and English Sparkling Wine.

The food was incredible and provided by Fern & Farrow, the guys behind Fern & Farrow Farm Shop & Butchery in Bishopsbourne. They also run wedding and event catering, specialising in open fire cooking, feasting and fine dining. Thank you to them for giving up their time and talent for free.

Beers were generously donated by Mcanns, who have a brewery down the road and our sensational soft drinks were donated by award-winning Owlet Fruit Juice. Delicious cupcakes and brownie bites were donated by the lovely Becky from Peachy Pearl Cake & Bake. We even had flowers donated by Gingerly Green Flower Farm, Winner of Best Florist, see below.
