Get ready for cocktails and Christmas trees, feather boas and flapper dresses as you step back 100 years to the sparkle, wonder and feather boas of a Roaring Twenties Christmas. In the gardens, you’ll find a fabulous ‘Putting on the Ritz’ trail for families with a special, festive prize. 



Enjoy the magical feel of the illuminated mansion and festive decorations after dark at the twilight events in the week before Christmas. The shops and tea rooms will also still be open for any last-minute (yes, I&#8217;m talking to you!) presents and festive goodies. (Remember car park booking required here).

Okay, well not literally, but it&#8217;s the closest you&#8217;re going to get. A warm welcome awaits when you experience how the Churchills celebrated the festive season at their famous family home, with the grounds and house beautifully decorated.&nbsp;



Take a stroll through the gardens, with bright lanterns to guide your way, and trees lit up with twinkling lights. Each weekend local carol singers will be performing outdoors and you can enjoy a cup of luxury hot chocolate while you listen. And between 17-20 November there&#8217;s the cute Chartwell Christmas Fair, filled with handmade crafts and local produce.&nbsp;

OMG how we loved the story of the BFG when we were younger. Take a trip down memory lane &#8211; oh and take the family too if you&#8217;re feeling up to it &#8211; and visit the Orangery where you&#8217;ll find a wonderful exhibition of the BFG in Pictures, featuring illustrations from Quentin Blake. 



While adults will love the nostalgia (plus the twinkly lights and feeling cosy from the cold outside) kids will delight in the pictures and activities, including dressing up and games.



In the historic palace, warm yourself by a roaring fire in the Great Hall and explore Knole’s historic showrooms adorned with festive displays. Outside, enjoy a walk around Kent’s last medieval deer park and little ones can follow the parkland trail, with a prize at the end.&nbsp;(£5 per trail, pre-booking recommended).

Celebrate the 10th&nbsp;anniversary of Sissinghurst’s Festive Market and complete your Christmas shopping in the surrounds of the stunning castle and garden. Taking place over the last weekend in November, expect a selection of stalls selling local crafts and food while musicians get you feeling festive. There will be plenty of seasonal refreshments to refuel on after all that shopping!



We highly recommend visiting the quiet of the stunning grounds before you leave to soak in the calm winter views of a quintessential pastoral English garden. A rare oasis of calm &#8211; before the Christmas fun begins!

Get downright traditional with a Tudor Christmas at Ightham Mote, with festive music, twinkling lights and seasonal scents, inspired by the rich and colourful history of the property. In fact the Tudor period started to shape the modern Christmas we know today (fun fact). 



This medieval manor house has a moat, family-friendly trails and gardens with a natural play area &#8211; we love the magical feel of the Enclosed Garden. And for some seasonal fun, the Great Hall has been set out for a lavish feast &#8211; think roaring fires, crafting workshops, carols and choirs. Pass us a mince pie.
