<p>We love a story with a happy ending. <a href="https://macknade.com/pages/spinlab?srsltid=AfmBOorzckh3_EoeCP4nfM7OIJzWg9ytJePa_1XUZ8eowpGpUqVFTc4y" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">SpinLab</a> was created because personal trainer, Adrian and his former client Shane, wanted to create a standalone indoor cycling studio in Kent. The collaboration is a united effort of their relentless passion for health, fitness, and lifestyle so SpinLab is a long-held dream brought to life.</p>



<p>Launched in April this year, SpinLab is a little bit different from the work-out norm. Rather than the traditional brick-and-mortar building, SpinLab is contained in two converted shipping containers set within the surrounding farmland around Macknade. You will find a varied timetable of seven different class formats, designed to suit different goals, fitness levels and time constraints.</p>

<p>Expect everything from: data-driven endurance rides (guided by real-time metrics and heart rate zones), high-intensity power sessions (fast, challenging rides designed to push performance),&nbsp; 30-minute express classes (efficient, high-impact workouts for busy schedules), rhythm rides (music-led sessions built around energy and flow) and all-level rides (inclusive classes where you can set your own pace while still being challenged) so there is something for everyone.</p>



<p>Each session uses immersive sound and lighting to create a fully engaging studio atmosphere, so you can really get into the experience, and forget the outside world so this is no ordinary workout awaiting you.</p>

<p>For those not already in the know, <a href="https://macknade.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Macknade</a> is one of our favourite foodie destinations in Kent as it is a food hall, delicatessen, butchery and café all rolled into one.</p>



<p>Located&nbsp;just outside of the market town of Faversham, and less than two minutes from the M2, it’s an additional bonus that you can just ‘park and play’ as there is an abundance of free parking on site so no fretting about finding a parking spot whilst being late for your class.</p>

<p>It’s the ultimate juxtaposition of Industrial-chic, with the high-end containers kitted out with all the mod cons, set amidst the rural setting of former farmland. They have even laid out some chairs outside so you can bask in the sun pre-class or recuperate in one afterwards – we did a bit of both.</p>



<p>This place means business so if you are looking for results, you are in the right place. The studio stands out for its use of Myzone heart rate technology, allowing riders to monitor effort in real time on screen or via an app, alongside Technogym Group Cycle Connect bikes which provide instant feedback on power, cadence and distance which is fab as it means you are competing against your Personal Best and not just your fellow spinners.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Strength classes are my fitness fad throughout the week with a bit of Padel and Tennis thrown in too so my hardcore cardio days are a bit of a hazy memory when I used to do regular Spin classes in my 30s. The Express 30 class sounded like the perfect way to ease my body back into it with a nifty little spin &#8211; or so I thought&#8230;&nbsp;</p>



<p>I took a local pal and the paranoia was real that I might do a Bridget Jones and tumble off the bike in front of her. As it turns out that was the least of my worries as there was not a second spare to even ponder that scenario. Whilst the Express 30 may be short in length, it is mighty in stature.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Cleverly designed for riders who want maximum impact in minimum time, it is the perfect class for anyone who wants a high‑energy workout that fits into a busy schedule but make no mistake, you’re there to work. The class has been built to make you sweat so go armed with a towel, water and maybe most importantly, a&nbsp;&#8216;you can do it&#8217; mindset.&nbsp;</p>

<p>As every second counts, you get into the workout straight away as our trainer encouraged us to dig deep and push through a fast-paced mix of climbs, sprints and power intervals.</p>



<p>I confess there was a mad hysteria of laughing moment as I realized that I had to do this for another 28 minutes after the first two. It was secretly comforting to see a fellow cyclist dial down their resistance in order to keep up so I followed suit and kept at my own pace. I was grateful for the lack of mirrors to avoid my ruddy face glaring back at me but it also helps you &#8216;lock in&#8217; (to coin my children) and focus on the job in hand.</p>

<p>It comes as no surprise that the mantra for this class is &#8216;big energy, big effort, and big results in half the time&#8217; so if you are after a compact and high-intensity workout, this is the one for you. On the plus side, it is a high-calorie burn-out, so you will reap the benefits of the work you put in which is helpful when it is bikini season around the corner.</p>



<p>Will I go back? Yes. But maybe armed with that towel to mop my brow and a healthy dollop of that Positive Mental Attitude.</p>

There is no time for slow warm-ups here as you hit the ground running with intense intervals, rhythmic climbs, and explosive sprints that push your limits and fire up every muscle. This is all set to heart-pumping playlists that blend electronic, hip-hop, and rock to keep you motivated.</p>

<p><strong>GOOD FOR?&nbsp;</strong>If you are time-poor and results-driven, Express 30 at SpinLab is  for you. &nbsp;With Summer fast approaching, I can see why these classes are so popular as they will have you beach-ready in record time.</p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR?</strong>&nbsp;It is a hard slog if you are not cardio-focused in your workouts, but you can set your own pace so go at your own rhythm for the first few sessions. You will sweat and emerge ‘rosy’ in face so bear that mind if you have lunch-plans after…</p>
