<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-shop">SHOP</h2>



<p>Named in simpler times, ‘The Street’ is the centre of the village and home to the Plaxtol Village Shop, which has a farm-shop feel (plus post office), with its own coffee machine and selling frozen COOK meals (a freezer essential). For everything else you can head into Tonbridge to the south, or Sevenoaks in the other direction.</p>

<p>Here you’ll be spoilt for choice – surrounded by stunning Kent countryside, with beautiful walks, and close to many amazing National Trust properties. First up is <a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/ightham-mote" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Ightham Mote</a> – a 14th-century moated manor house with lovely gardens, café and shop. There&#8217;s also&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/old-soar-manor" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Old Soar Manor</a>, the 13th-century manor house, which was originally owned by the Culpepper family. And not far away in Sevenoaks is&nbsp;<a href="https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/knole" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Knole</a>&nbsp;House and medieval Deer Park, 600 year old estate, owned and still lived in by the Sackville family.</p>

<p>Family-run business <a href="https://www.plaxtolbakery.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Plaxtol Village Bakery</a>, makers of artisan bread, started here with one bakery and one shop in 1973 and has now grown to 6 shops, as well as supplying&nbsp;breads and bakes to other outlets across the South East. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-commute">COMMUTE</h2>



<p>A 10-15 minute drive will get you to the A21 and also the motorway network of both the M25 and M26. Hildenborough train station is just 10-15 mins away and from there it&#8217;s a 40-min direct train journey into London Bridge, Waterloo East and Charing Cross.</p>
