This quirky, foodie gem, sits right on the beach, boasts sea views aplenty, bursting with indie eateries and even <a href="https://folkestoneharbourarm.co.uk/outlets/putters/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Putters! Adventure Golf and Café</a>. In the summer, there&#8217;s the added attraction of the Harbour Screen with a programme of film and sports. Coming up on the movie reel are: Baz Luhrmann’s&nbsp;<em>Romeo + Juliet</em>,&nbsp;<em>Mamma Mia!</em>,&nbsp;<em>Grease</em>,&nbsp;cult classics like&nbsp;<em>Mean Girls</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Ferris Bueller’s Day Off</em>&nbsp;as well as newer releases like&nbsp;<em>Top Gun</em>&nbsp;<em>Maverick</em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Elvis</em>. All screenings take place at 7pm and are&nbsp;<strong>COMPLETELY FREE</strong>.</p>

<p>Broadstairs&nbsp;first became a fashionable place to visit in the Victorian era as one of Kent&#8217;s finest seaside towns but its had something of a renaissance in the past decade. Now known for its vibrant festivals throughout the year &#8211; add the <strong><a href="https://www.broadstairsfoodfestival.org.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Autumn Food Festival</a></strong> to your diary &#8211; and its up-and-coming foodie credentials, boasting cool restaurants like <strong><a href="https://www.thetablebroadstairs.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Table</a></strong>.&nbsp;Plus it boasts a lovely beach – Stone Bay that just won Blue Flag 2023 seal of approval. </p>

<p>Take an amble from Broadstairs to Margate – <a href="https://www.alltrails.com/en-gb/trail/england/kent/margate-to-broadstairs#:~:text=Enjoy%20this%209.5%2Dkm%20point,encounter%20other%20people%20while%20exploring." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">on this easy-going route</a> which is suitable to most abilities, so a wonderful opportunity to get outdoors. It can get rather blustery on the clifftops but the scenery is stunning with extensive views. It takes an average of 2 h 15 min to complete but that will fully justify lunch at local gem <a href="https://www.sargasso.bar" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sargasso</a>, nestled against the sea wall of Margate&#8217;s harbour arm. An informal setting, but stunning food.</p>

We love the sound of the Seal trips (lasting approx 1 hr 45 mins) departing from the Sandwich Quay. You will travel down the river Stour for 45 mins taking in all the hidden history and wildlife on the way before reaching the edge of Pegwell nature reserve where you will see the active resident seal colony. What an adventure!</p>

<p>This one’s right on the doorstep… Visit <a href="https://www.wooltonfarm.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Woolton Farm</a> for its wonderful cider and award-winning wines, plus you can feast on local produce in their rustic restaurant, The Barn. Try one of their mouthwatering plates – such as a Kentish Charcuterie Platter or Kentish Cheese Board – and if you like what you try you can purchase some to take home, thanks to the shop and deli counter. If the weather is warm, visit the cider garden to stroll around, or sit and drink in the sun. Plus there’s experiences on offer with private tours and tastings. Good job it&#8217;s within walking distance of The PIG at Bridge – so no worries there (or a very short taxi drive).</p>

<p>Less than a 10-minute drive away is <a href="https://www.aspinallfoundation.org/howletts/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Howletts Wild Animal Park</a> which, like its sister park&nbsp;Port Lympne Hotel &amp; Reserve, is a&nbsp;proud partner of the Aspinall Foundation who save endangered species around the world. And, as luck would have it, it’s right on the doorstep – sitting just outside Canterbury. With lots of animal encounters and experiences, plus a Dinosaur Trail. No one&#8217;s getting bored any time soon.</p>

<p>For energetic folk there&#8217;s <a href="https://www.betteshanger-park.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Betteshanger Country Park</a> on the coast in Deal &#8211; a brilliant place for outdoor adventure. It&#8217;s the most important cycling centre in East Kent, with a 3-kilometre road cycling track providing safe, traffic free road cycling facilities, so ideal for families. There is a further 10 kilometres of mountain bike trails, all of varying difficulty, designed to challenge and excite all levels of cyclist. A range of bicycles and helmets are available for hire. Visit at the right time of year and you&#8217;ll catch The Beast – the world’s largest inflatable obstacle course which always visits in May. Betteshanger Park can be easily reached by the A258 and has ample on-site parking.&nbsp;</p>
