Just when you thought the celebrity cameos couldn’t get much better than Paul Rudd and Meryl Streep, Only Murders in the Building bring in Zach Galifianakis, Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Richard Kind, Jane Lynch, Melissa McCarthy, Kumail Nanjiani, Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Molly Shannon to join Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short for another hilarious whodunnit. This time around the loveable podcasting trio are still trying to figure out who killed Sazz Pataki (Lynch) and determine whether Charles (Martin) was the intended target – gasp. Meanwhile their podcast catches the attention of Hollywood. We maybe four seasons deep but Only Murders keeps getting better and better.

Prefer your crime a little less cosy? Enter the long-awaited second season of Sherwood. That’s right James Graham’s gripping Notts-based drama which centred on the coalminers strike is back with a bang, this time focusing on the tensions, crime and violence that followed. Monica Dolan, David Harewood and Robert Lindsey join cast favourites David Morrissey, Lesley Manville and Lorraine Ashbourne in this tense, twisty, edge-of-your-seat drama.
Strictly Amy: Cancer and Me, BBC One, Mon 26 Aug
Tissues at the ready for this one as Strictly favourite, Amy Dowden, has documented her cancer journey in this brutally honest and heartfelt documentary. From the early days of diagnosis shortly after her wedding, to treatment, questions around fertility to getting back on that dance floor, Amy shares all in this eye-opening and inspiring watch. Bringing some much needed redemption to Strictly Come Dancing after recent headlines.
Adam Sandler: Love You, Netflix, Tue 27 Aug
Belly laughs incoming! Adam Sandler hits the stage for the first time in what seems like forever in this thrillingly unpredictable comedy spesh directed by Josh Safdie. Expect plenty of Sandler’s dead pan brand of observational humour as well as songs, skits, a stage-crashing dog and, of course, a whole lotta love.
Paralympics 2024, Channel 4, from Wed 28 Aug
It’s not time to put your inner sport critic to bed just yet as the Paramlympics arrive into Paris this week. Though no new sports have been added to this year’s schedule there’s more than enough to keep you occupied and astounded from para canoeing and cycling to athletics and wheelchair basketball. Clare Balding presents with the likes of Rose Ayling-Ellis, Ade Adepitan and Lenny Rush among commentators.
KAOS, Netflix, Thu 29 Aug
Just when you thought you couldn’t love Jeff Goldblum anymore, he parades around as a Greek God in a Gucci tracksuit in dark new comedy KAOS! A contemporary rethinking of Greek mythology by The End of the F***ing World writer, Charlie Covell, which sees Zeus (Goldblum) spiral into paranoia over a wrinkle – talk about relatable – while three humans threaten to reshape the future of humankind. Billie Piper, David Thewelis, Leila Farzad and Suzy Eddie Izzard also star in this brilliant, impressive reimagining. Let the KAOS commence.
Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Prime Video, Thu 29 Aug
We’re headed back to Middle-earth with The Rings of Power crew for more epic storytelling. Acting as a prequel to Tolkien’s much-loved classic, Season two sees baddie Sauron (Charlie Vickers) rebuild his strength and unbeatable power while the discovery of more rings proves to threaten everything. Expect crazy fight scenes, some unbelievable special effects, cracking make-up and of course plenty of elf ears first made famous by Orlando Bloom.
