Incoming! 7 new shows to watch and stream on TV this week
Michelle Williams goes on an orgasmic odyssey while Kevin Bacon is back from the dead plus Guy Ritchie’s latest mobster smash – cuddle in for this week’s top notch telly.
PICK OF THE WEEK
Dying for Sex, Disney+, Fri 4 Apr
Dying for Sex is inspired by the real life story (and podcast) of Molly Kochan, who, after receiving a terminal breast cancer diagnosis, left her stagnant marriage to embark on a journey of sexual discovery. With her ride or die best friend in tow, this is a heartbreaking story beautifully realised by Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate, Rob Delaney, Sissy Spacek, Kelvin Yu and the team behind New Girl. Bursting at the seams with love, friendship, warmth, humour and some inspirational take-life-by-the-horns action. Be prepared to laugh, cry and speed-dial your bestie after watching.
MobLand, Paramount+, out now
Who’s ready for some classic Guy Ritchie gangster action? His latest knuckle-dusting smash sees Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren (yep, you heard) play ruthless gang leaders locked in a deadly battle for power within a global syndicate, with Tom Hardy taking on the role of their loyal fixer. A top notch cast (with Joanne Froggatt, Jasmine Jobson, Paddy Considine and Mandeep Dhillon also starring) and Ritchie’s trademark humour softening the violence, we’ll be watching MobLand with bells on.
Gone Girls, Netflix, Mon 31 Mar
True crime fans, this new doc about the Long Island Serial Killer will have you glued from the get go. It follows all the twists and turns in a case, which is still developing today. From the lack of police leads when women first started disappearing from New York and Long Island, to the body remains found in 2010, to the eventual arrest of a suspect in 2023. Brought to you by Emmy-winning director, Liz Garbus (Lost Girls), Gone Girls is captivating stuff scoring pretty high on the shock-o-meter.
Stacey & Joe, BBC One, Tue Apr 1
First came the Kardashian’s, then the Osbourne’s, followed by the Stallone’s (and let’s be honest, countless others) and now Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash have jumped on the family reality TV bandwagon. The couple have opened the doors to their adorably named home, Pickle Cottage, giving viewers a peek behind the scenes of their happily married life, as they raise their blended family and menagerie of pets. Sure, no one asked for it but Stacey & Joe are hard not to love. A total hug in a mug of a watch.
The Bondsman, Prime Video, Thu 3 Apr
Kevin Bacon is a man on a mission in this action come horror come comedy series, brought to you by the production company behind Paranormal Activity, Insidious and The Purge. Bacon plays Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter, resurrected from hell by the Devil himself, to kill escaped demons. While rounding up the undead, he also learns how his own sins got his soul condemned, allowing him a second chance at life, love and, um, country music. Intriguing.
Pulse, Netflix, Thu 3 Apr
Love a hospital drama? Time to get your finger on the Pulse, stat. This new medical procedural follows the lives, loves and patients of staff at Miami’s busiest Trauma Center. Sure it’s not mould-breaking stuff, but it’s got plenty of heart-stopping, tense moments and a cast of characters (played by Willa Fitzgerald, Colin Woodell, Justina Machado and Jessie T. Usher) you’ll happily root for. Winning.
Austin, BBC One, Fri 4 Apr

Laugh your way to the weekend with Ben Miller’s latest comedy Austin – a must-watch if you love shows like Colin from Accounts. Miller plays Julian, a children’s author on the brink of being cancelled thanks to a foolish retweet while on his Australian book tour. His only shot at redemption it seems is to embrace his estranged and neurodivergent son, Austin, despite the questions it raises in his marriage (awkward). Sally Phillips and Love on the Spectrum‘s Michael Theo also star in this heartwarming, funny, Friday night watch.
