The flagship bar in The Goods Yard will be taken over by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/flocbrewing/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Floc.</a>, a firm favourite amongst Kentish beer drinkers. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/radburgerco/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">RAD Burger</a> and <a href="https://folkestoneseafront.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5f98a1c08dc89c7994ed362c7&amp;id=cdad47d7c6&amp;e=28c898dbcf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Gobsmack&#8217;d</a> will be bringing mouth-watering burgers plus inventive sides like loaded fries and tater tots. We love the sound of the thin steak on a bed of loaded fries. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sooshi_sushi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sooshi Sushi</a> is set to open, rolling from Whitstable, enjoy maki, California rolls, nigiri and even poke bowls, the must-try item has to be their deep-fried sushi rolls. <a href="https://folkestoneseafront.us14.list-manage.com/track/click?u=5f98a1c08dc89c7994ed362c7&amp;id=76353d6886&amp;e=28c898dbcf" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Queso Hombre</a>&nbsp;is a cheese lover’s delight with raclette, grilled cheese sandwiches and charcuterie with a Spanish flair. Last but not least, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/baoboba.folkestone/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bao Boba</a> will be expanding into The Goods Yard with a small selection of bao and bubble tea.

You’ve probably already been to the original site in Brighton, boasting a Bib Gourmand Michelin credential. Head straight for Atul Kochar’s&nbsp;<a href="https://essencerestaurants.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Essence</a>&nbsp;now open on The Pantiles in Tunbridge Wells. Inside it’s a mix of terracotta walls, high vaulted ceilings and cosy corners with velvet booth seating. Enjoy pan-Indian fine-dining dishes with their 3-course weekday and weekend set lunch menus and for gastronomes, there’s a 7-course tasting menu with optional wine flights plus the bar will serve tapas-style menu of light bites and there’ll even be a takeaway service. If you didn’t manage to get a table at The Counter’s pop-up at The Daily Bread or you haven’t enjoyed a private dining night at Rencraft (yet!), well you’re in for a treat as&nbsp;<a href="https://www.thecountertw.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Counter</a>&nbsp;is getting a permanent residence! Founder and chef, Robin Read is currently setting up his brand new restaurant on Calverley Road in Tunbridge Wells, next to Natural Fit. We can’t wait for this gorgeous seasonal and sustainable experience to return once again, you can expect to tuck into a seasonal tasting menu using the best local, wild and foraged produce. Opening March 2024.

Huge shout out to Dan and Natasha Smith, the husband and wife team behind <a href="https://www.fordwicharms.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Fordwich Arms</a> and <a href="https://www.bridgearms.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Bridge Arms</a> (both near Canterbury) where the two foodie destinations keep going from strength the strength. Recently both pub/restaurants retained their well-deserved Michelin stars. Plus when the Top 100 gastropubs list was revealed not only had both venues rocketed up the charts, but Dan also won the Chef of the Year 2024 trophy. Congrats all round!

Multi award-winning chef and owner of Apricity Restaurant (Michelin Green Star 2023) in Mayfair will be the next guest chef at&nbsp;<a href="https://updownfarmhouse.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Updown Farmhouse</a>&nbsp;in Deal on Fri 15 March. As one of the leading female voices in the UK’s hospitality industry, Chantelle is an advocate for seasonality and sustainability. On the subject of celeb chefs, catch Great British Menu star James Cochran at <a href="https://www.finbarswestgate.co.uk" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Finbar&#8217;s</a> in Westgate as part of their Chef Series on Weds 20 March. Bringing a 5-course taster menu from his restaurant 12:51 in Islington to the coast near you. His menu boasts mouthwatering dishes such as torched, cured mackerel, truffle buttermilk fried chicken and roast hogget. Tickets are £108 and on sale now so go, go, go!
