<p>The Michelin excitement doesn’t stop at supper. While restaurateurs battle for the coveted stars, for hoteliers it’s all about the Michelin keys. Yep, in case you haven’t heard,&nbsp;<a href="https://guide.michelin.com/gb/en/article/travel/all-the-michelin-key-hotels-in-the-uk-ireland" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Michelin</a>&nbsp;have introduced a ranking system for the world’s most outstanding stays, dishing out &#8216;keys&#8217; to only the very best of the best.</p>



<p>Designed as the accommodation equivalent of the Michelin star, the key rewards hotels that offer truly outstanding experiences based on five criteria: excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency of service, personality and character, value for the price, and contribution to the local area.</p>



<p>Three levels are awarded – one key, two keys and three keys – with inspectors visiting anonymously, just as they do for restaurants.  It’s so rare and coveted in fact, only a mere 14 hotels in the UK and Ireland are considered three key standard.</p>



<p>There&#8217;s also the famous Michelin Guide for Hotels which features a wider list of Michelin-recommended destinations &#8211; with a total of 7 hotels in Kent and only one of which was awarded the prestigious Michelin Key.</p>

<p>Boys Hall is the impressive 17th-century manor house. We’d recommend resting your head on one of their four-poster super-king-size beds with oak-timbered ceilings and homely vibe. The character is quite literally bulging out of the walls. We’ll take the one with the free-standing tub, please!</p>
