<p>The demand for Head Spas are on the rise with Japanese Head Spas leading the way so when we heard that <a href="https://www.terrigilhamhairspa.co.uk/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Terri Gilham Hair Spa</a> in Mersham-le-Hatch had launched their brand-new&nbsp;<a href="https://www.terrigilhamhairspa.co.uk/japanese-head-spa" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Japanese Head Spa</a>, we were first in line.</p>



<p>If you are not already in the know, Terri Gilham Hair Spa is the go-to luxury salon in Kent. They were also one of our finalists in the Muddy Awards 2025 for best Hair Salon in Kent and have scooped up many other awards along the way, so you are in very safe hands.</p>



<p>Terri is the visionary behind the Hair Spa and is an absolute gem. Having worked as an award-winning bridal stylist for the past 15 years, her cool and calm attitude is just what you want to sort out any hair dilemmas. It also helps that she has envy-worthy long luscious hair that you rather want for yourself.</p>

<p>Located on the historic Mersham le Hatch Estate, formerly owned by Lord Braebourne, you will find lots of other lovely and local businesses formed out of ex-stable blocks and outbuildings of the nearby manor house.</p>



<p>Terri Gilham Head Spa is set within the enchanting, cobbled courtyard next to their busy Hair Salon. They are in good company as another Muddy favourite, Kent Cookery School, is close by as well as The Secret Garden, a gorgeous Victorian Coach House, restored Glasshouse and Walled Gardens perfect for all weddings and events.</p>

<p>From a practical point of view, Mersham le Hatch Estate is just off the A20, near Ashford, and there is an abundance of free parking which starts your visit with an immediate smile on your face.</p>

<p>It’s not hard to see why as a halo of waterfall-like jets of water slowly moves back and forth over your head, which is mesmerizing to watch and let me tell you, even more mesmerizing to be on the receiving end.</p>

<p>We love the fact that there are two therapy beds so you can enjoy treatments side by side with a pal or a loved one or take your mini-me for the new Rising Roots Head Spa designed for 6–14-year-olds.</p>

<p>We kick-started the session with a full scalp analysis using a special camera to determine which products would be used during the treatment. You can see in minute (and rather unnerving) detail what is happening on your scalp.</p>



<p>We love the fact that Terri is adamant that the treatment includes a full 60 minutes on the bed so you can experience the full relaxing benefits of the Head Spa. 75 minutes is allocated for the appointment for the analysis and the rough blow-dry afterwards which is music to our ears as once you slide onto that bed, it is impossible to leave.</p>

<p>The beauty of this treatment is not only is it hugely relaxing, but you also know how much of a positive benefit it is having on your head and scalp. There is something very nurturing about having someone wash and comb your hair for you, and you feel almost childlike as you give in to the treatment.</p>



<p>We started with a deep cleanse and exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and product build-up, as you would expect with a standard facial. This was swiftly followed by a scalp oil, scrub and cleanse and it truly felt like my scalp was getting the chance to breathe after years of endless products being thrown at it.</p>

<p>A fumigation steamer was next which helps to deeply condition the hair and give you that glossy shine, as it allows moisture to deeply penetrate each strand of your hair. This was truly like a spa session just for my head.</p>



<p>We love how Terri makes the most of every minute of the treatment so whilst you are ensconced in the steamer, you can lap up a hand and arm massage to elongate that pampering moment. Her firm hands know exactly where your pressure points are so it’s no wonder that many people sleep like babies post their treatment.</p>

<p>The Halo waterfall is the money shot moment of the treatment but it’s worthy of the hype. As the jet streams encircle you and pour constant streams of warm water over your head, you do feel that any cares in the world are being, quite literally, washed away.</p>



<p>There is a deep sigh as you remove the Rose Quartz eye mask at the end of the full sixty minutes, but they will make you look game-ready for the outside world, as a rough dry or French Braid is included with the treatment.</p>

<p>Looking for a new bonding mother/child bonding activity? We love the idea of the Rising Roots Head Spa, designed for 6- to 14-year-olds, as it is a gentle yet indulgent treatment for younger heads.</p>



<p>There is a softer scrub but you and your mini-me can still enjoy the Halo Waterfall and scalp massage, side by side, and relax together. As navigating the teen years gets harder, that immediate sense of calm is a sure-fire way to alleviate any stress.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-the-muddy-verdict-nbsp-nbsp">THE MUDDY VERDICT&nbsp;&nbsp;</h2>



<p><strong>GOOD FOR?&nbsp;</strong>Those in need of some self-care as it is the most indulgent and nurturing treatment on the market. Needless to say, it can also help those experiencing scalp problems such as shedding, dandruff, irritation or psoriasis. Head Spas can also promote stronger, thicker, healthier hair growth, so if you need help in that department, this one is for you.</p>



<p><strong>NOT FOR?&nbsp;</strong>&nbsp;It is not advisable to have a Head Spa if you are pregnant, going through chemotherapy or have hair extensions.</p>

<p>The Harmony Head Spa (75 minutes) is £85.</p>
