BEST FOR: SPA WITH A HEART
Green Farm Spa
The location: Green Farm itself is a small farm estate deep in the Kent countryside in the idyllic Shadoxhurst conservation area, surrounded by 12,500 acres of ancient woodland and traditional pastures. You’ll find it between Ashford and Tenterden and just 37 minutes from St Pancras, if you’re heading out of London.
The lowdown: Run by husband and wife team MaryAnn and Martin this is a special place and one of Kent’s most unique spas. Rather than being a hard marble kind of spa this rural retreat is a place of natural beauty and countryside charm. The clue is in the name – it’s a green kind of place, from the lush surrounding fields to the home-made soup (unbelievely tasty, I tried it). There’s even yoga classes in the Studio.
Overnight spa guests stay in MaryAnn and Martin’s stunningly restored home. Or book up Green Farm Barn, a fabulously restored 19th Century, listed barn on the property providing luxury self-catering accommodation. It can take up to 12 guests (14 at a push) and is perfect for family gatherings, two or three families holidaying together or groups of friends.
You can wander on the farm, stroke the animals and walk in the woods. Whether you’re coming for the day or looking for a relaxing spa weekend there’s a variety of bespoke packages available. As well as a variety of ESPA treatments in the actual spa, there’s everything from yoga classes in The Studio to Art Classes. Read the Muddy review. greenfarmkent.co.uk
BEST FOR: GOING AWAY WITH THE GIRLS
The location:Eastwell Manor is situated within beautiful landscaped gardens in Kent, located 5 miles from Ashford International station, so a pretty good meeting point for those living on West and East side of Kent.
The Lowdown: The indoor Spa is exactly the quality brand experience you would expect from Champney’s; fluffy bathrobes, swish indoor pool and huge treatment space.
A strong contender if you are looking for a special destination for a birthday, baby shower or girlie get-together. If no celebration is required, and you just like cake, then consider booking a table at Eastwell Manor for its Afternoon Tea which has been designed by its Head Pastry Chef Hemant Chawla.
Expect a freshly cut mini sandwiches and savouries as well as delicious pastries and warm scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam. We’re so there!
You’ll find loads of luxury stay packages to choose from – in the Main House there’s Classic Manor Rooms, or go all-out with a Superior Room or Luxe Room. Alternatively, right in the middle of the grounds and just opposite the Main House, you’ll find The Eastwell Mews which comprises 39 en suite bedrooms, all converted from original Victorian stables. Then there’s the super-cute Shepherd’s Huts… Oh we had you at Luxe Room, did we? Read the Muddy Review. eastwellmanor.co.uk
BEST FOR: COUPLES GETAWAY
The location: Half an hour out of London and five mins from the M25 this is in northern most tip of Kent. With two tournament golf courses on the doorstep or, waaaay better still only 15 mins drive from Bluewater Shopping Centre (that’s the car kind of drive – not tee-ing off, you understand).
The lowdown: If you like your spas high-gloss and hard marble then this one’s for you. With Roman-inspired interiors, two floors of pools and couple’s treatment rooms – Rowhill Grange is perfect for a couple’s getaway.
Sit in the steam from the hydrotherapy pool, relax in Jacuzzi or unwind in the swimming pool upstairs. You could even make a day of it by enjoying their Afternoon Tea – just add champagne obvs. If that’s not your thing, have lunch or dinner in RG’s Restaurant, proud holder of 2 AA Rosettes.
Or stay the night and slink into one of their Rooms with an oversized bed, 24 hour room service, subtle ceiling lighting and L’Occitane toiletries. alexanderhotels.co.uk/rowhill-grange
BEST FOR: WELLBEING AND REHABILITATION
The Granary Spa
The location: The Granary Spa is an organic and holistic spa, tucked away in Ashford, Kent. It’s in a beautiful converted Victorian granary, as part of the Godinton House Estate, which enjoys beautiful surroundings, ensuring that you encounter a sense of complete relaxation from the moment when you arrive. Shhhhhh…
The lowdown: It’s no co-incidence that the spa won Best Day Spa in the Muddy Stiletto Awards 2019 – the team here definitely go the extra mile. Experience tranquility – from the treatment rooms on the ground floor and the new Shepherd’s Hut outside, to the relaxation area upstairs, where you can unwind with tea and a book in either a human touch massage chair.
The spa has developed a reputation for the depth of care and personal touch – rather than just a quick manicure. They can also adapt their spa treatments for guests with serious illnesses or disabilities and they have therapists trained in Cancer Touch Therapy. The approach is very much holistic, bespoke and about the individual’s wellbeing. Read the Muddy review. thegranaryspa.co.uk
