Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve, Ashford

Enjoy a truly memorable experience at Bear Lodge, in the county’s only safari reserve and breeding sanctuary with over 900 animals across 75 species. Toast marshmallows at the fire pit and snuggle up in a real bed in your canvas tent (there’s even en-suite facilities too) – all overlooking the secluded bear habitat in a quiet corner of the Reserve. Perfect for families – sleeping up to 8 in one tent – Bear Lodge is the ideal base for your wild day trip with a touch of rustic charm. Elmley Nature Reserve, Isle of Sheppey

Elmley Nature Reserve is one of our favourite destinations in Kent to completely switch off from life. It’s the only National Nature Reserve in England where you can spend the night and they have a wealth of luxurious sleeping options to do just that – why not try one of their uber-Instagrammable Shepherd’s Huts? 

The DamsonThe Ferryman’s and The Salt Box are their large shepherd huts. Sleeping up to 4 people with two beds (one kingsize!), fire pit, galley kitchen, epic marsh views and depending which one you book you’ll either have a hot outdoors bath tub or an open air shower with a view! Don’t worry, there is a shower inside too incase you’re not open to that exhilarating experience!

Or try their smaller traditional Shepherd’s Hut; Little Owl and Samphire. Perfect for 2 people with a full-sized double bed with sweeping views, wood burning stove, ensuite bathroom decorated in a rustic, vintage style.

Or why not experience the magic of Elmley from a beautiful, roomy Bell Tent (pictured)? With 3 to choose from, they’re all provided with electricity, a BBQ, a gas stove and beautiful Bramley products. Sleep in comfort in a double bed and wake up to the wilderness in their luxury tents, perfect for families, friends or couples.

Glamping at Preston Court, Canterbury

Going away with the gang? The set-up at Preston Court is perfect for families and friends all coming together, taking exclusive hire of one of the glamping areas over two or three days. Stay in the Glamping Meadow, which has a village feel, (think fully furnished Bell Tents, complete with electricity), pitched around the perimeter of a meadow field, bordered by woodland and views across paddocks with horses and sheep. Or if you want more off-grid glamping The Woodland Glade has Bell Tents, some pitched privately in little clearings within a woodland and others widely spaced in a water meadow. Under an hour by train from London, here you can enjoy gorgeous views straight across the nature reserve, where guests can roam and explore, or enjoy wild swimming in the Little Stour river tributary.

Barn Garden Bell Tents, Woolton Farm, nr Canterbury

Like cider? Experience this glamping experience with a difference! Visit Woolton Farm, near Canterbury, home of Kentish Pip and their fabulous range of award-winning, distinctive East of England ciders. They use the best ingredients, innovation, style and a pinch of tradition to create their ciders. Visit the shop, stroll around the cider garden, sit and drink in the sun, enjoy one of their group tours and tasting experiences – even get some food from the BBQ on weekends, 11am-7pm!

So make a weekend of it and stay in one of their Bell Tents in The Barn Garden. They have 8 bell tents located in the fruit garden, all well-spaced nestled in a row of cobnut trees with views into the fruit garden. Bliss! No need to worry about taxis here (hic).

Enchanted Globes, Boughton Monchelsea

Why not try a night sleeping under the stars in your own bubble? Enjoy your own private woodland clearing, complete with a sleeping globe, lounging globe and fire pit. Situated in the orchards on a private farm, these Enchanted Globes are owned by Muddy’s favourite The Curious Eatery so we know you’ll be in the best of hands here. Wander through the orchards to a microbrewery, pick your own flowers or enjoy cake and coffee roasted onsite. Leave the kids at home and enjoy some peace and quiet in this secluded, romantic spot.

Dingle St Glamping, Benenden

What a beautiful spot indeed! Dingle St Glamping is a small exclusive / private glamping site nestled in the countryside in Benenden. There’s 10 furnished bell tents with their own private outdoor space. Book one or book it all for exclusive hire!

Ham Hideaway, Sandwich

Experience a night at Ham Hideaway, get the full outdoors experience with the benefit of private showers and toilet facilities (we like the sound of that). Stay in a traditional Shepherd’s Hut or try Robins Roost (pictured) a spacious and stylish 4-6 person safari-style tent with a deck. All accommodations come with super fast WiFi, a range of gourmet catering options from afternoon tea hampers to farmhouse breakfasts and even butler served dinners to your tent – dogs are welcome too!

The site is nestled amongst a maze of rural footpaths from Ham Fen, Kent’s last surviving ancient natural fenland, a rogue for very distinctive and rare wildlife including the Eurasian beaver (fact fans). Plus with Sandwich Bay and the historic market town of Sandwich within walking distance, there’s plenty to see and do.

The Knoxbridge Glamping & Camping Site, Frittenden

If you’re looking for a fun Glamping experience but on a budget, get a rainbow or leopard bell tent for just £90 for 2 nights! You can’t go wrong with The Knoxbridge Glamping and Camping Site it has a pub on site, flushing portable toilets and it’s dog-friendly. There’s a wide range of Glamping options depending on how many bells and whistles you want! We like the sound of their Deluxe Canvas tents (pictured) with everything you could need included with decorations, fairy lights, a double bed and breakfast.

Bodiam Boating Station, nr Rye and Cranbrook

This one is camping, rather than glamping, but it’s a special spot so we thought we’d add it in the mix. Muddy readers will no doubt have heard us celebrating all the things we love about Bodiam Boating Station – a brilliant river activity centre 6 miles from Rye and 8 miles from Cranbrook. Perfect for a family day out, group trip or adventure with your girlie mates – with every kind of boating you can imagine on offer. And why not stay and camp this summer? Riverside Cottage Camping is their small rural site based in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty within the High Weald – making it the perfect place to unwind. There are 25 pitches (half with electric hook-up), catering for Motorhomes, Caravans and tents.

Sit back, relax and watch the Kent & East Sussex Railway steam trains as they chug by in the distance. For the Bear Grylls amongst us campfires are encouraged and the owners can provide fire pits, wood and even marshmallows (should you have forgotten your own). There’s a wonderful café on site – oh, and a cocktail bar too. Snap up the last few precious spaces while you can – there’s some availability mid-week and even one nighters during the school holidays.

Woodland Farm Glamping, Tunbridge Wells

If you’ve got kids to entertain, Woodland Farm Glamping sounds like just the place you’d need! There’s table tennis, platonic area, small sandpit plus 60 acres of woodland to explore perfect for walking or riding bikes. With no electricity on site (don’t worry there’s a communal area to charge your phone!), you can relax and enjoy the escape into nature. Prices are £100 per tent per night for up to 4 people. They come with a full campers kitchen of utensils, plates and cutlery, a kettle, small gas stove and a cool box. All bedding is supplied and you’ll have a table outside. Plus portal toilets and 2 shower blocks are available.
