Pumpkin pickers rejoice! Where to find yours in Kent
C’mon, it’s time to prep for Halloween! Head to one of these local farms and make the kids put the legwork in before they can start carving. Bonus brownie points for zero food miles.
Loddington Farm, Boughton Monchelsea
Loddington Farm are bringing back their popular PYO Pumpkins but this isn’t just your average pumpkin patch – it’s a working farm packed with excitement. So pop on your wellies and feed their adorable piglets and playful chickens, before scouring the fields for the perfect pumpkin and even PYO beautiful flowers on-site at Blooming Green (available 19 Oct and 24 – 27 Oct) to jazz up your funky pumpkins!
When you’ve finished in the fields, cosy up with a steaming bowl of their homemade venison chili or scrumptious pumpkin soup (available weekends only), paired with a refreshing local ale from The Armoury at Musket Brewery. It’s the ultimate Autumn day out in the stunning Kent countryside. Open Sat 19 – Sun 20 and Thurs 24 – Sun 27 Oct. Entry is FREE, no need to book and plenty of parking available. 10am – 3:30pm.
Four Winds Farm, Fordcombe
Country bumpkins you’ll love this pumpkin field on Poundsbridge Hill in Fordcombe, very close to neighbouring villages; Bidborough, Speldhurst and Penshurst. With plenty of pumpkins to choose from and even a fun scarecrow trail, face painting and refreshments. Only pay for the pumpkins you pick, prices from £2.50. Open between Sat 19 – Sun 20 and Sat 26 – Thurs 31 Oct. Book online for your vehicle ticket and don’t forget your wellies!
Pumpkin Moon, Faversham, Maidstone & Rainham
Returning for October 2024 with over 100 different varieties of pumpkin, squash and gourd over their 3 farms in Kent located at Faversham, Maidstone and Rainham. Plus delicious street food, warm drinks and plenty of photo opportunities. Grab a colourful wheelbarrow and get picking. Selected dates from Sat 5 – Thurs 31 Oct and you’ll receive an arrival time slot.
Saffery Farm, Faversham
If you’re looking for a more authentic pumpkin trip with no frills, you’ll like this one. No booking required here, pay £4 per car on entry and pay for the pumpkins you pick, prices start from £1. This is a working farm so just don’t forget your wellies. Open Sat 19 Oct til Sun 27 Oct, 10am – 4pm.
Pumpkin Festival, Lower Ladysden Farm, Goudhurst
Hop to Lower Ladysden, a family-run farm, in the heart of the countryside which specialises in the production of fresh fruit and veg available for PYO or to buy in their award-winning farm shop. Every October, they go ALL out and have a Pumpkin Festival open every weekend in October and every day during Half Term plus Pumpkin Nights (Fri 18 & Sat 19 Oct). Expect over 40k pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes and colours, face painting, glitter tattoos, halloween cookie decorating, Maize Maze, Straw Bale mountain, pumpkin carving area and large seating area with hot food and drinks. Day time tickets are £2.75pp (under 3s are free) and Pumpkin Nights are £5.25pp.
Chilton Manor Farm, Sittingbourne
The pumpkin patch will be open once again mid-October – keep your eyes pealed on updates! Open 10am to 4pm. They have a lovely shop here too so do stick around for a browse.
Sevington Farm, Ashford
Don’t forget your gloves and wellies here! Get hunting for the golden pumpkin where each day they hide a ‘gold’ and ‘silver’ pumpkin on the field. If you find the gold pumpkin, you win your wheelbarrow full of pumpkins for free. If you find the silver pumpkin, you get your largest pumpkin for free so happy hunting! Pumpkins are priced from £1-£10.
Stanhill Farm, Dartford
The pumpkin patch first opened 10 years ago and it’s been going strong ever since, loved by people of all ages so grab a wheelbarrow and head down to the patch, it’s the perfect chance for a photo opportunity. Open Sat 5 – Sun 6 & Sat 12 – Sun 13 in Oct and then open everyday from Weds 16 til Tues 29 Oct. Pre-booking is essential.
Tulleys Farm, Crawley
Just over the border in Crawley is this mega pumpkin farm, they have a total of 12 acres of pumpkins producing 75,000 pumpkins! You’ll definitely find some weird and whacky ones here. Keep your eyes peeled for live roaming characters whilst you PYO, taste delicious street food in the pumpkin village or treat yourself to a cocktail or craft beer in the pumpkin bar. We love the sound of pumpkin nights too, perfect for the tweens and teens.
