How do you undo six months of skin neglect and stress in just 60 minutes? Well this hero facial at Coco Blush in Tunbridge Wells is a pretty good start…
I worked out the other day that the last facial I had was well over a year ago – despite the fact that my skin has been emitting a sad SOS call for pretty much the whole of 2020!
So in between lockdowns I managed to hot-foot-it to Coco Blush for some much needed T(zone)LC.
Coco Blush, is a much-loved, luxury beauty salon that has been in Tunbridge Wells for over 10 years. It’s just a couple of minutes walk from Tunbridge Wells train station and moments from the shops in The Pantiles. (For parking try Warwick Park itself, checking out the time restrictions obvs).
It recently gained a new lease of life and had a makeover when it moved to the fabulous One Warwick Park Hotel, it’s in the heart of the town but fairly hidden away – so entirely peaceful and a place to escape.
The salon usually has its own entrance at the side of the hotel but during the Covid pandemic visitors are being asked to pop into the hotel reception area first and then be taken across for their treatment.
Modern and high-end, like the hotel is sits within, Coco Blush is a slick little salon – relaxing colours, polished wood and marble – that kind of thing.
There’s five decent treatment rooms and a sixth room which has been remodelled into a relaxation room.
They offer everything from spa treatments to monthly maintenance treatments, including shellac nails, eyelash extensions and waxing.
When presented with the forms to fill out before my facial – showing a picture of a face and asked to circle the bit I wanted to focus on the most – I circled the entire picture. I think you get the idea.
The very experienced and approachable therapist, Debbie, talked me through the best treatment for my skin type and explained everything she’d be doing in advance. I like that, so I fully know what to expect.
Coco Blush is a Temple Spa salon – the brand they use for everything from the body and beauty treatments on offer to the reed diffusers and candles. It’s a luxury beauty line found only in Harrods and other selected top hotels.
I had a Temple Spa My Kinda Skin treatment which is a bespoke prescription facial for your skin type, it lasts 60 Minutes, (costs £60).
Everything is tailored just for you. The facial includes a tailored face and décolleté massage plus a relaxing scalp massage. You will feel amazing and your skin will look so, so good.
Here’s a pic of me after my treatment – so you can judge for yourself. Okay so you’ll have to excuse the serious case of post-facial helmet hair – but I felt my skin had a great glow afterwards. I will definitely be returning.
THE MUDDY VERDICT
Good for: Anyone who likes a spa/salon experience but without pretension. My facial was incredibly relaxing and very effective. Great location too – within walking distance of the train station and near all those lovely Tunbridge Wells indie shops!
Not for: This is not a big spa, more a salon, so don’t go expecting hot tubs and swimming pools. Being smaller you get the personal touch here, rather than if you’re looking for a more anonymous drop-in experience.
